Break out your sky-high platforms and little Gucci dresses — it looks like that Spice Girls reunion Melanie Brown hinted at last year is one step closer to fruition.
As you may recall, Mel B, a.k.a. Scary Spice, said in December that the group would be “rude” not to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of their 1996 debut album Spice. Now, she’s shared proof that it might actually be happening. On Wednesday, the 40-year-old posted a gorgeous selfie with two of her other Spice Force 5 sisters, Geri Haliwell (Ginger Spice) and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice).
Rumors about a reunion gig have been floating around for a while, despite the reported reluctance of Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice). But instead of just a tour, it looks like we may actually be getting brand new music from the girls — earlier this week, The Mirror published photos of Mel B, Geri, and Emma heading into a recording studio in London. The group’s former collaborator Eliot Kennedy — who wrote and produced music for the girls’ second album — then added fuel to the speculation with this pair of tweets.
Mel B recently told The Mirror, “To do something for our 20-year anniversary is the ultimate dream. If we do anything, we will be writing everything from scratch. We are all group texting and speak a lot.”
The girls thrilled fans with short-lived comebacks in 2007 and in 2012, but this anticipated reunion — complete with brand new jams! — could be the most exciting yet.
